About Wordease:

Once upon a time, on a beach, of all places, two word-loving wanderers met while walking their dogs. What started as casual chats about life, books, and the magic of storytelling soon turned into a shared dream: to help people tell their stories, beautifully and honestly. And just like that, Wordease was born.

At Wordease, we believe that everyone has a story worth telling. Whether it’s a life full of adventure, a career of hard-earned wisdom, or the simple, beautiful moments that make up a legacy, we would LOVE to capture it all.

We know writing a memoir might sound daunting (or downright terrifying). But that’s where we come in! With over 50 years of combined writing and editing experience, we take the stress out of storytelling. We listen deeply, ask the right questions, and bring your story to life in a way that feels effortless, and with deep respect for your journey. Our goal is for your words to flow as easily as a conversation over coffee.

At the heart of Wordease is our belief in truth, integrity, and a touch of humour. We’re here to make the process enjoyable, not intimidating. Our approach is warm, professional, and entirely personal: no cookie-cutter templates, no AI-generated stories, just your personal, individual voice, beautifully captured.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember things, in more ways than one. Sometimes that trip down memory lane makes us revisit things that are not always easy to talk about, but having a receptive ear to listen makes it all the easier.

ABOUT THE WRITERS

Meet the Team

  • A woman smiling and holding a white mug, standing in a bright, modern interior with light-colored chairs in the background.

    CATHY KILROE-SMITH

    The Musician-Turned-Wordsmith

Cathy’s journey has been anything but ordinary. With degrees in music and ethnomusicology spanning three continents, South Africa, Germany, and the United States, she’s lived a life rich in culture, creativity, and, of course, a deep appreciation for a well-told tale. From performing on international stages to shaping minds in academia, her love for words has always been there, humming in the background like a familiar melody.

Eventually, the call of the written word became too strong to ignore. Swapping musical scores for storytelling, Cathy dived headfirst into writing and editing, honing her skills through UCT’s Copy-editing and Social Media Marketing courses. Now, she’s on a mission to help others capture their stories with clarity, heart, and a touch of lyrical finesse.

    SASKIA BOONZAIER

The Scientist with a Storyteller’s Heart

Saskia’s background might read like the beginnings of a National Geographic documentary. With degrees in Behavioural Biology, Zoology, and Environmental Management from Scotland and South Africa, she could have easily followed the academic path. But life had other plans. Trading microscopes for manuscripts, she found her calling, carving out a niche in academic, environmental, and lifestyle writing.

When she’s not helping others shape their literary dreams, Saskia can be found running an organic wilderness farm, where storytelling comes to life in the rustling of trees and the rhythm of nature. Her ability to listen deeply, observe keenly, and craft stories with warmth and wisdom makes her an invaluable half of the Wordease duo.

Our Shared Passions

Two women laughing and sharing a book among a pile of books on a wooden table, with a teacup and saucer nearby.

Sas does cold water swimming, and Cat does warm beach walking.

Between us we have six dogs, all with distinct needs and personalities.

We brainstorm best when we are hiking through fynbos.

We’re slightly obsessed with wildflowers.

Love a chat over a coffee.

Both of us love a yoga session to start the week.

From whispered memories to written legacy, your story deserves to be heard, remembered, and beautifully told.
